Today, I will center my blog post.

The person who sent me the following email sure doesn't know me very well...

There's about a page more, but I was honestly so bored by the time I finished that sentence that I decided to blog instead of finish reading.

Fail.

Ok. Harry Potter part 7.2:

Yes, I finally saw it. I was waiting for a certain someone to get back form an internship in another country.

They returned, so we saw it.

Here is what I thought:
It followed the book really well. I was impressed, actually. However, by the time it was over and i was leaving the theater, I realized that it had somehow fallen completely short of my expectations.

Why?

I didn't know. And I wouldn't know until I discussed the matter with my niece. She mentioned her theory that the movie was completely void of emotion.

She was right.

Let's be honest, this book is one big emotional gold mine.

-Dobby's death and burial,
-The beautiful moment of shared laugher over Ron's "I hate to brake it to you, but I think they might have noticed we just broke into Gringots" line
-The romances
-The deaths of so many beloved characters
-Aberforth's love for his sister
-Snape and Lilly's friendship and later falling out
-Just the whole Snape thing in general
-When Neville cuts off the snake's head
-Molly killing Bellatrix
-The wrap-up of the series-long message of love and the power it holds
-The realization that Harry alone is fit to have the Hallows, that he really is the good, pure, selfless person we all came to know and love.

But the movie?

I just didn't feel it.

:(

But it's ok, I still have the books to comfort me.

On that note, I have realized (one) of the reasons that I prefer books to movies.

Think about a chick flick. Any chick flick is fine, it's not like we don't know they're all the same.

How long did it take the couple to fall in love? A couple of days? A week? Or, more likely, one random run-in and they knew they were destined for each other?

Right, cause that's believable. But what are they suppose to do? It's a two hour experience, they can't portray a full-blown love story.

But a book is endless. It can have as many pages as is necessary to fully express the details of any story.

I love books.

I will blog my list of "most recently read" once I have finished one, possibly two, more.

  1. I am so glad someone else out there felt the same way about Deathly Hollows like I did! The next day after the midnight showing I started the books again...so glad I still have those old "friends" to turn to ;)

Also I have been dying to ask someone else who has both seen the movie and read the books this question that has really bothered me:

:::Okay you know how Tonks and Lupin have a kid, and in the book they tell everyone in the house by the sea, well I do not remember them once telling anyone in the movie but yet when Harry uses the resurrection stone he asks Lupin "what about your son", but as far as I could tell in the movie they forgot to include Tonks and Lupin telling everyone. DID I MISS SOMETHING?!?!? LOL!!
