Retinal Disparity

A few minutes ago I glanced up from my computer, my natural line of vision falling upon Sarah's bed. There she sat with her textbook open and a studious facial expression. The odd thing about this situation was that she had her index finger about an inch away from her face, slowly opening and closing her eyes so the right was open when the left was closed and vice versa. I casually asked her what she was doing, to which she replied "just testing retinal disparity," as though it was as common as checking the weather. This comment led to a long chain of laughing, followed by a realization that as far as roommates go, I have really lucked out.
