I am actually quite excited at the prospect of spending the 4th of July in our nations capitol, not to mention that I will be with my entire family, which hasn't happened since I was in 5th grade.
The trip to Virginia was...interesting. Pretty sure layovers are the death. Our stop in Atlanta was pretty event-less, except that I learned that Georgia people are not very nice and lack any sense of humor whatsoever. Maybe I shouldn't judge all people from Georgia on the two girls working in the small airpot shop that sold gum, coke products, and t-shirts for the avid tourist, but I am going to anyway. Anyway, our flight was delayed 20 minutes, which was not a big deal. I had photoshop going and was making a new desktop background so I was entertained. Then, while in-flight, we were informed that we could not actually go to the airport because of weather, so we flew around for about half an hour and then took a different route to the airpot. Again, not a big deal. I was watching Remember the Titans and was not bothered by the additional time. The real adventure started once we were on the ground and packed into our short-one-seat rental car. We got into the rental car at around 8:50, ready for the thirty minute drive to Rebecca's. Three and a half hours later, at approximately 12:03, we pulled up to her door.
It was a long painful process involving confusing maps, a lack of road signs, stubborn drivers, people who cannot speak english, and, after a certain hour, much laughing. I must say the two best parts of the night were A) when my parents threw up their arms and said that they didn't even know where Rebecca lived. Great. We didn't even know where we were trying to go. This was made even better by the fact that we had already been driving for about two hours at that point. And B) when we pulled into the wrong line at the toll place, couldn't back up, and found out that they don't accept change after 11. We kinda freaked out for moment, and by freak out I mean laughed histarcially, because that's how you freak out when you're running on limited amounts of sleep. But don't worry, because the lady informed us that we could pay with credit card. Just trust me when I say it was hilarious.
