Tittle

I like to look up random facts. I like knowing that in the average lifetime, a person will walk the equivalent of 5 times around the equator. The fact that, according to suicide statistics, Monday is the favored day for self-destruction is very interesting to me. Why Monday? Is it really the whole first day of the new week thing? Is this more common on cloudy Mondays? I like to be able to throw out random information in conversation.

For example, the other day at work I informed Jake (or Mallory, if you're like Dan and a little hard of hearing) that 'stewardesses' is the longest word in the English language typed with your left hand. True, Jake knew this fact before I told him, but I still felt cool for throwing it into a conversation.

Work was especially slow yesterday. There were a few minutes right after Megan went to seat when the 18, the 15, and the 8 checked and I had four walk-in parties of 6 and all three phone lines were ringing. But chaos reigned only for a few minutes, and then it was back to boring. Fortunately, however, I have found a pass-time for these boring moments at work. I am teaching myself to write with my left hand. Now I don't mean to brag, but I must say that I have gotten quite good! My writing could totally pass for an advanced 5th graders :)

So, yesterday, when Megan was down at the other end of the hall, and I was at the desk practicing my writing skills, she asked me how it was coming. I replied by telling her that I had mastered the lower case "L", and the lower case "I" was coming along, but some times the tittle was off centered.

Yes, I actually used the word tittle in a sentence.

I must admit that, when I was looking up random facts, the fact that the dot over the 'i' is called a tittle was something that I thought would never come in handy. However, I cannot even begin tell you how cool I felt using the word tittle not only in daily conversation, but using it correctly.

  1. Tittle, I love reading your blogs. For some reason I think they are so funny. All my entries are the same, stuff we do as a famiy, pictures, etc... I never post something creative like that.
