How to feel like an idiot

If you want to feel like an idiot, major in family studies and then go to a biology lecture. All I know is that the lady introducing the lecturer said “I just thought bacterial mutation sounded like fun,” and at that point I knew I was one hundred percent out of my element. I just sat there trying to take notes for my 1 page write up, but in reality I was starting at the brains of the people around me wondering what was going on in there. Did they understand? Had they really taken enough biology classes that these words went together in an understandable way in their heads? What was different about their brains than mine? There were times when they laughed in unison. I couldn’t even fake a smile, I just repeated the line last spoken in my mind and tried to decipher the humor. Impossible. I came to a conclusion: they must be left-brainers. Or maybe their brains had something that mine is missing. The good news is that the lecture came with a free cookie, so that was cool.
