So every once in a while I'm like "Ok world, really? Don't you think that sliced bread is a pretty low bar? Couldn't we bump it up to like, internet?" But then I stop and actually think about what my life would be like without sliced bread, and I completely take everything back. Does that make me the most pathetic person ever?

Let's talk about studying.
I want so badly to be one of those people who can have a full-fledged conversation while the TV is going in the background. It would be great to be one who could listen to their choice of music while memorizing Piaget's stages of development, or be able to listen to two conversation's at once and come away with a full understanding of what went on in both of them.
However, I am not one of those people.
I am a person who needs utter and complete silence. Visual silence too, if you know what I mean. I can't have children running around or birds flying past the window or even the person across from me scratching their nose.
I have ADHD people, I am easily distracted. I need a small wooden box and some classical music.
In my time here at BYU I have tried all the different study locations. I know where to find the most comfortable, the least populated, the closest to food. But no matter how many times I test it out, I always find myself in the one place that works best: the library. More specifically, a study desk.
Today, however, I decided to give out-of-library studying a try once again. I had a friend taking a test in the Clyde building, so I figured I could write my paper there.
Oh sure. Except for that people were crinkling their food wrappers and mumbling under their breath and answering their phones.
I seriously just learned so much about this girl during her phone conversation with her mother. She is engaged, her fiancé's name is Taylor. She does not like cap sleeves, in fact she feels a little passionately about it. She is learning Hebrew, and she is pretty far along. She recently purchased a Hebrew keyboard and is getting the hang of it; she only has to look down every once in a while. But the whole thing with the delete key going the opposite direction is still weird to her. Her soon-to-be-husband is taking a piano technique class at 10 on Tuesdays and something else at noon. I got the feeling that she is still getting to know the in-laws so we'll assume he lives out of state. But she lives in state. She's going home on Tuesday for an appointment.
...yes. Yes she really discussed all of that AND MORE while I was trying to write a paper.
Don't get me wrong, this is not me telling her off. I am in no place to be annoyed with her for having a phone conversation with her mother, and it's not like we're in a "No Speaking Allowed" zone. However, I am a little annoyed with myself.
Come on, Sade, you know yourself better than this. No matter how many times I try to be cool, I always end up wishing I'd stuck with my trusty and oh-so-silent study desk.
So, next time you need me, you can find me in the HBLL.

This made me laugh so hard! That's where I always had to study to. With walls on every side of your head so you couldn't see anyone else unless you tipped your chair so far back you almost fell over! Because if I sat ANYWHERE else there was always something to be distracted by, even if it was just the people walking by.
