Ah, look at all the lonely people

Just in case you don't know the song the post title is quoting, click here. It's a personal favorite.

As you may know, this summer my crutches have become my constant companion. While this is not the worst thing to have ever happened to me, it falls right up there with some of the most frustrating. The number of activities I could normally participate in has been greatly decreased, especially considering I cannot drive. To add to my mounting boredom, my friends from both high school and college have fled the state for the summer, leaving me stranded and ride-less.

This has left me searching for forms of entertainment that can be done A) in the comfort of your own home, and B) with no company.

So, after much time and experimentation, I am pleased to present to you today my list of "Things to do while spending the summer alone and at home!"

1) Branch out in your journaling. Break free from your regular this-is-what-happened-today zone of comfort and make note of the random facts that usually slip through the pages.

2) Rot your brain and discover the beauty of Hulu. If I may make a few suggestions: LOST, Prison Break, Parenthood...

3) Go through your mom's cookbooks and find recipes you would like to copy before heading out on your own.

4) Practice said recipes by making marshmallow brownies for neighbors and friends.

5) Pull out your stash of old letters and give them a second read-through.

6) Take a temporary leave of absence from reality and read a book

7) Work on developing skills, like organization. Why not start with your mothers sewing kit?

8) Create memories - make a scrapbook! (pictures and other such necessities coming soon)

9) Make a somewhat uninteresting yet time-consuming blog post about all of things you can do when home and alone. Or, if you don't yet have a blog, you could always start one. *cough* Jennie...

I don't think motivation was the right word but oh well. Such things I will work on. 4. I hope you keep writing blog posts because reading them makes me feel a little better about being away from home, and about.... Felicia.

    I miss you Sadie.

(Also I'm jealous that you're friends with the Perrys. They always seemed so cool. My kind of cool, I mean. Obviously they're not any normal kind of cool.)
