Today I got a pair of Crookston PJ's in the mail. I thought it was smart of them to wrap them in bubble wrap. You know, just in case they break.
In other news...
I'm trying an experiment. The other day I was studying for midterms, something that has proven extremely hard for me. I've never been one to sit for hours and concentrate on one subject. In fact, fifteen minutes is pushing it. I cant help it that I come from a long line of ADD people!
Another problem I seem to have is memory, or the lack thereof. It doesn't matter how many times I read that the seventh section of the first article of the constitution talks about how a bill becomes a law, ten minutes later I wont remember! This doesn't happen only when memorizing history facts, though it would be nice if that was the case. Unfortunately, this lack of memory applies to all aspects of my life. Whether it's someones birthday or a long, interesting conversation, give me a few days and I wont even remember that I've forgotten something.
I've often thought that if I only had a photographic memory, life would be stress-less. How nice would it be to just read and remember? Not only would having a photographic memory solve my memory problems (duh), but I'm convinced that it would make the whole studying process much easier. Not only would it cut hours off of the time, it would also be easier to concentrate knowing that I would actually remember what I was reading.
So back to the experiment. I am going to memorize a scripture a day and hope it leads to a photographic memory. If President Monson can do it, why cant I? I'll be sure to keep you posted with regular updates of how it's going, and I look forward to one day dazzling you all with my skills! I'm hoping that I'll have the whole thing down before I graduate from college...wish me luck!

If you can't remember things from one day to the next, how are you going to memorize scriptures in the first place? I always thought that was kind of dumb advice. When they tell you "memorize a scripture a day and you'll get a photographic memory!" what they should be saying is "memorize a scripture a day and you will painfully and slowly learn some handy tricks to help you memorize things!" when they COULD just tell you the handy tricks in the first place. And then tell you to use them to memorize scriptures.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, there are some cool tricks you can use to memorize dang near anything. When I was in Basic Training I was bored so I memorized the contents of the book they gave us in a couple of days.
Go for it!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd let me know when you have that photographic memory! ;) I might join you in memorizing a scripture a day...
You go girl! =)
